Oh... oh... oh... I just thought of another one. Those of you pre-puberty in the early-to-mid eighties will likely remember... Silver Spoons!!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I actually mentioned both of them. Granted my list was really long, lol.

Wishbone, I think, is abosolutely the best kids show ever made for teaching books, and definitely one of THE best educational shows. That show was my life when I was little. I have about 10 episodes now thanks to the licensed VHS and DVDs. My mom and I joke that Joe (that was Wishbone's owner, who I had a crush on ) and Andy Roddick, the tennis player, look quite a lot alike. We aren't sure how Joe got so good when he was wasting soo much time following Wishbone, Sam, and David around everwhere!

I still watch The Magic School Bus everyday, if I'm up in time for it. (It's on TLC at 8 am). Honestly, I still learn from the show. But I think that's because they have random episodes about things that most adults don't know much about.

I used to watch all the PBS Kids shows on fake surround sound, with the TV on, and the radio set to the local PBS station. That was always helpful for when I wasn't home to watch, too. Lots of memories with PBS Kids.

I know I'll probably leave some out, but some of my favorites were/are:
Fraggle Rock
Full House
Punky Brewster
Pink Panther cartoons
Lamb Chop
Family Matters
Perfect Strangers
Flinstones
Jetsons
Yogi Bear
Bugs Bunny (and other Looney Toons)
Mr. Roger's Neighborhood

I also liked The Torkeleson's and Life Goes On, they were on when I was a little older, I guess.

I do remember something about the Pooh Corner that everyone's been talking about. I know I would remember better if I could actually see an episode. And I do remember Under the Umbrella Tree!

I also sometimes watched Hey Dude and I do remember Square One! It's funny that I loved that show since it was mathematical and I hated math when I was in school. My brother especially loved Sqaure One because he's really into computers and tech-y type stuff. I would love to see that again!

I'm an early 80's baby, but I LOVED Nick at Nite and TVLand reruns of classics like Green Acres, I Love Lucy, Munsters, Family Affair and the Dick Van Dyke show. I had the biggest crush on "Rob Petrie"! I thought he was just the cutest!

I also had the biggest crush on "Zack" from Saved the Bell, his name is Mark Paul somebody.

Sorry, everyone, that I'm so talkative on this subject. I can get going forever on stuff from my childhood! I love rediscovering toys/movies/TV shows that bring back great memories from being a kid!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">As a teacher, I have to agree. What a great concept... cute dogs, great books and imagination! As a Jack Russell Terrier owner and a former full-time rescuer, I have to say it was a NIGHTMARE. So many people saw nothing but dollar signs in ol' Wishbone's eyes (actually, his name was Soccer; he passed away about four years ago). People bought and bought and bought, never stopping to think that JRTs are hunters, they require a LOT of exercise and generally aren't great with kids. It created a crisis situation, one only overshadowed by the Dalmatian rescue crisis.
I was a big fan of the show. My oldest terrier's name is Wishbone. So it was a bittersweet experience for me.
I know someone who works for the produciton company that made Wishbone. I have a signed 8x10 of the entire cast and an authentic dog tag from one of Soccer's collars. It says "Joe Talbot" and his telephone number. It's pretty cool.

My daughter loved watching Wishbone and she did learn alot from the show. The other show she loved and learned from was The Magic School Bus. The show covered science, the human body, plants, water, weather and much more. Very educational.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">At the total risk of sounding incredibly stupid, I'd love if you could post some pics if you get the chance.

Thanks for posting that entire thing! I didn't know any of the other stuff you posted, except about Soccer (and you can bet I cried when I found out). That's interesting, I wasn't aware of this, and only vaguely knew about the Dalmatian one. It's sad when people buy pets and get rid of them, but even worse if they get rid of them because they didn't look into how they're going to have to care for them first. Some people just don't realize that animals are a HUGE responsibilty, and that not every (much less any) Jack Russel Terrier is going to read books and act out the stories (although, that does sound quite appealing).

I honestly think this is one of the best kids shows ever made. Perhaps, with the obvious amount of interest there was in JRTs, they could have included an episode about Soccer, and said something about how most JRTs aren't like him, and that "like all big pet decisions, families should look into proper pet care before seeking out a pet." I can picture Larry Brantley saying that. Might not have cut the number down *too* much, but it could have helped a little.

My all time favorite show EVER is Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. I watched it religiously from 5th grade through high school when it got canceled, and then I was part of the letter writing campaign to get it back on. At least we got two movies...

Other shows I loved in no order:
David the Gnome
Today's Special
321 Contact
Mr. Wizard
Smurfs
My Little Pony
Little House on the Prairie
Brady Bunch
Ghostwriter
Avonlea
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego!!!
Pinwheel
Sesame Street before Elmo conquered it
Dumbo's Circus
Rainbow Brite
The Littles
Gummi Bears
Get Along Gang
Fraggle Rock
Punky Brewster
Mr. Roger's Neighborhood
Square One TV
Duck Tales
Pound Puppies
Belle and Sebastian
The Little Prince

I'm sure I'll think of more... This is a great thread!
